Today we introduce to you Dan Ungureanu
Q1: How did you become part of the Rotarian family?
A: I joined Rotaract in 2012 in my home town Baia Mare, Romania after returning home from my studies in the UK. My fellow Rotarian, Adrian Dan Pop, introduced me to the Rotaract community. Soon after our initial meeting, we discussed the idea of a Rotaract Model United Nations and not long after that the first edition was organized in Romania in 2013 by Rotaract Club Team Baia Mare. I was elected Club President in that year and also managed the first edition of Rotaract Global Model UN
Q2: Tell us about your first experience with Rotaract Global Model United Nations!
A: The first idea about Rotaract Global Model UN came in 2012 after I presented the Model UN concept at a training. I attended many Model UNs during my student years and having just joined Rotaract I saw great potential in organizing a Rotaract Model UN due to the network and ties Rotary has with the UN, especially since Rotary and the UN are sister organizations and many Rotarians helped create the UN in 1945. We discussed the idea within our club and then we went for it in 2013 and organized the first edition in Romania. I was appointed Project Manager as this was the project proposal I made when I joined the club. Since then editions were organized every year in many countries and continents which makes me very proud of what we achieved. This reflects on our initial vision for the project to travel the world and give opportunities to young people across the globe to make a difference. We also organized editions at the UN HQ in New York which makes this truly special.
Q3: What is your reason for volunteering?
A: There are many reasons to mention, but I believe the one that stands out the most for me is the tremendous personal and professional growth you achieve through volunteering.
Q4: What impact does Rotary or Rotaract have on you?
A: Rotaract and Rotary change lives, it expands your horizon and gives new opportunities for growth. This is my experience and I think it is shared by many others.

Today we introduce to you Adrian Dan Pop, the Club Administration Director.
Q1: How did you become part of the Rotarian family?
A: I was invited to join Rotaract back in 2009 in Baia Mare City, Romania. I joined an initiative group asked to form a new Rotaract club in the city. It was the second club charted: Rotaract Club of Baia Mare TEAM.
It was a very nice entrance into the Rotary family as we had to work closely with fellow Rotarians from our sponsor club. We had so much to learn from them.
Q2: Tell us about your first experience with Rotaract Global Model United Nations!
A: As president of the Rotaract Club of Baia Mare TEAM, we were looking for new members. And that’s how we met Dan Ungureanu who introduced us into the Model United Nations world. He organized before such event, called NAPOMUN, in a major city in Romania, Cluj Napoca, not far away from Baia Mare.
Listening to the success story of Dan’s experience organizing a MUN conference without any global support and being very familiar with the long-lasting relationship of Rotary International with the United Nations, we came up with the idea of making from this two global organization a powerful platform for young professionals to speak up. We promised to make their voice heard and so the first Rotaract Global Model United Nations journey started. 2013 in Baia Mare, Romania.
Q3: What is your reason for volunteering?
A: I was always trained for business. I liked that idea so I studied economics all way from high school to master studies. But I felt that just economics and business is not enough and it’s too selfish.
From the business position, I was helping different NGO’s around the city with sponsoring products for their charity work and when the Rotaract invitation to play a major role I did not refuse.
The first project implemented as Project Manager in the Maramures area was Let’s do it, Romania! in 2010, a global environmental movement for a clean nature. We had a lot of success and all the rules and strategies from business school did not make sense anymore. Thousands of people willing to work for free for no personal benefit other then a clean environment was a shock. No one teaches you that is possible.
More projects were conducted since then and I love to work my time for the community, volunteering.
Q4: What impact does Rotary or Rotaract have on you?
A: Rotary is the party of my life. I served the Rotaract club as president and other roles and also helped our district in different years with roles on IT and organizational development. The step forward to Rotary was very important to me. All the wonderful Rotarians, people that we were working with from Rotaract, now became my colleagues and I was very fast integrated.
The connection with Rotaract goes on through Rotaract MUN that goes around the world and brought us together under the umbrella of a new Rotary Club, where I am glad and proud to be Charter President: Rotary e-Club of Global Peace and Leadership.
Meeting online is something I’ve always done but I love to attend as a guest my first Rotary club, in Baia Mare, Rotary Baia Mare 2005.

Today we introduce to you Julia Weigsteen, the rotary foundation Director
Q1: How did you become part of the Rotarian family?
A: Through my dad, he suggested I attend a meeting. I am addicted ever since.
Q2: Tell us about your first experience with Rotaract Global Model United Nations!
A: RGMUN 2015 in Belgrad was my first event. Mina, who I met at the EUCO in Bucharest invited me. I represented Russia in the EcoSoc. Most of all I enjoyed the exchange with young people from all over the world. It was a blast!
Q3: What is your reason for volunteering?
A: I am fortunate enough to have grown up and to live in a country where I have nothing missing. That is not self-evident. Therefore it is important to me to make my contribution to making the world a little better.
Q4: What impact does Rotary or Rotaract have on you?
A: Rotaract changed my life. It took me to places I never dreamed of. Moreover, it taught me that who dares the unknown will be rewarded in the end. I am rewarded with terrific friends an unforgettable experiences.

Q1: How did you become part of the Rotarian family?
A: My journey started in 2013 through Rotaract Club of Dokki-Garden City, in which I had the honor to be its president. after that I served as co-founder president of Rotaract Al Shorouk starting from 2015. in 2017 I was one of the founding members of Rotary e-club of Global Peace and Leadership.
Q2: Tell us about your first experience with Rotaract Global Model United Nations!
A: CWMUN in New York, 2016 as a delegate in UNHCR committee, an amazing experience that put me on the pathway to explore how we can deliver youth voice to international diplomatic platforms. as well, this was the first step towards meeting the the team that afterwards became the founders of our e-club.
Q3: What is your reason for volunteering?
A: Volunteering offers vital help to people in need, worthwhile causes, and the community, but the benefits can be even greater for oneself, the volunteer. Volunteering and helping others can keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose.
Q4: What impact does Rotary or Rotaract have on you?
A: Changed my personality to be more positive on the social level , and gave me a wider exposure to the international community.

Today we introduce to you Yana Isaeva, born January 25th, 1992, in Bulgaria. She is a Politologist.
Q1: How did you become part of the Rotarian family?
A: I became part of the Rotarian family 10 years ago as a member of the local Interact club. Back then I was a president of the town’s student council. A friend of mine, who knew me very well and also knew that I am interested in contributing to the community, told me about Rotary and suggested me to visit a meeting as a guest. Of course, once I attended (it was a love from a first sight), I never left. My friend, who became my sponsor, later on told me, he saw the leader in me and he was sure I will develop that skill in the Rotarian family. Quickly after Interact I became a Rotaract member and through the years I was on all board positions including President in 2015/2016. Looking back now, I can say that I met his expectations.
Q2: Tell us about your first experience with Rotaract Global Model United Nations!
A: It was a hot summer in Bulgaria back in 2016, when Rotaract Global Model United Nations was held in Sofia. My Rotaract club of Sofia-Serdika was the host club and one of our members and good friend of mine was the Director of the edition. To be honest, I became part of the organizing team at the last minute, but the 6 days that followed turned my perspective of life to 180 degrees! Very intense schedule, no sleep for 144 hours and friendships that last forever pretty much sums it up. A life event to remember!
Q3: What is your reason for volunteering?
A: Volunteering provides us with a unique, non-routine way to apply our skills for the benefit of others or society at large. Through volunteering I became a meaningful part of the world. There is no other energy in the world as the one we gain by sharing our love and caring for others.
Q4: What impact does Rotary or Rotaract have on you?
A: Honestly, now when I think of it, I can’t imagine my life without Rotary. My world would be empty. All the friendships from all around the world; all places I have visited with Rotary; all the people I have helped in the years; all the personal development I have reached through Rotary… if all that is gone, then I will be gone too.

Q1: How did you become part of the Rotarian family?
A: I joined the Rotary family after attending RotaractMUN in London 2014.
Q2: Tell us about your first experience with Rotaract Global Model United Nations!
A: I first heard of RGMUN while heading to a pub in London. At first, I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy attending as I was wary of all these organisations that try to indoctrinate people. I decided to attend, and I was impressed with the level of professionalism displayed by everyone, their patience and understanding to everyone from different background. I was more so amazed how different persons from different countries could come together and find solutions to global problems. RGMUN reminded me the importance of family and compromise.
Q3: What is your reason for volunteering?
A: I believe in giving back to the community and society. Volunteering enables you to strengthen your existing communication and transferrable skill and most importantly, make an impact.
Q4: What impact does Rotary or Rotaract have on you?
A: Rotary and Rotaract have a significant positive impact on my life. Its guiding principles inspires me to be selfless and always focus being better,
